One of the biggest news earlier this year was Colgate Palmolive aligning its media duties with MEC (earlier known as Mediaedge:cia), and then some time back the company realigned its creative business, and parked it out of Rediffusion Group into Bates 141. Neither development was preceded by a pitch process. While not many in the industry are clear on why the account moved, but from a WPP viewpoint, this was an interesting development.

Colgate Palmolive India creative biz likely to shift to new unit under Bates 141?blur=25

It is learnt that Colgate Palmolive India has decided to parted ways with its creative partner Rediffusion Y&R. The business is said to move to Bates 141. WPP is reportedly planning to create an independent unit that will handle only the Colgate Palmolive business, which will fall under Bates 141. The movement is effective from October 2010, till then Rediffusion Y&R will continue to work on the account.

TME & Colgate Palmolive part ways; MEC gains?blur=25

It has been a good year for Mediaedge:cia (MEC) so far. Last month, Zee Entertainment broke its seven-year relation with Madison Media and moved to MEC, and this month, Colgate Palmolive and TME have “mutually agreed to part ways”, ending a 25-year long relationship, and the FMCG major has landed in MEC’s kitty. Industry sources peg the business in the vicinity of Rs 250-300 crore. The reason cited is global realignment.
