For the first time Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has reconstituted the composition of Committee on Journalist Welfare Scheme and Central Press Accreditation Committee in which journalists are made members. The scheme came into force from March 28, 2018.
The Information & Broadcasting Ministry (MIB) has proposed an allocation of Rs. 1 Crore to be made to the Journalists Welfare Scheme in BE 2018-19. Currently, the provision is of Rs. 20 lakh for the scheme.
