The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has said its digital platforms, WAVES Bazaar and WaveX, are aimed at expanding business, investment and innovation opportunities across India's media and entertainment sector.

In a written reply to an unstarred Question in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr L. Murugan said WAVES Bazaar functions as a year-round global marketplace for business discovery, B2B meetings, investment facilitation and international collaboration across films, animation, VFX, gaming, XR, music and digital content.

He added that WaveX serves as a startup-focused platform, connecting media and entertainment startups with investors, incubators and industry partners through pitching and networking initiatives, without providing direct funding.

Murugan also said the government has established the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) as the National Centre of Excellence for the AVGC-XR sector. Set up in collaboration with the Maharashtra government and industry bodies, IICT has partnered with global technology companies and academic institutions for curriculum development, skill-building, research, startup incubation and international collaboration.
