Ribha Sood has joined the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) as a Consultant, where she will be engaged in strategic communications and multilateral work in the ministry’s Multilateral Economic Relations (MER) Division, with a particular focus on outreach related to India’s BRICS Presidency in 2026.
Prior to this, Sood worked with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), where she handled policy and communication-related assignments. During her tenure, she was associated with the Digital Media, Films, and Broadcasting verticals, contributing to media policy, digital platforms, and government communication initiatives.
In her new role at the MEA, she will focus on strategic communications in the context of multilateral economic engagements, including coordination and outreach related to India’s BRICS Presidency this year.
Sood began her career in journalism with Hindustan Times, before moving into public relations and subsequently transitioning to a policy role within the Government of India.
Her move to the MEA marks a shift from domestic media policy to international-facing work at the intersection of communications, economic diplomacy, and multilateral engagement.
