Rs 232 cr allocated under DCDFC scheme in FY26; Rs 156 cr utilised so far: MIB

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has allocated Rs 232.46 crore under the Development, Communication and Dissemination of Filmic Content (DCDFC) scheme in the current financial year 2025–26, of which Rs 156.86 crore has been utilised as of February 26.
The funds have been disbursed to the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), which implements the scheme aimed at promoting the creation and dissemination of film content and strengthening the visibility of Indian cinema in domestic and international markets.
According to information shared by the ministry, the scheme supports the organisation and participation of Indian films in film festivals and other global platforms. It also provides financial assistance to filmmakers and film-related institutions to expand the reach of Indian cinema.
The programme further covers activities such as the preservation, restoration, digitisation and archiving of India’s film heritage. In addition, it offers incentives for audio-visual co-productions and facilitates international films shooting in India.
The DCDFC scheme also supports industry engagement through film festivals, workshops, screenings and masterclasses designed to encourage collaboration among filmmakers, artists, technicians and other professionals in the film sector.
Data shared by the ministry shows a sharp rise in allocations in recent years. In 2024–25, Rs 340.68 crore was allocated to NFDC, of which Rs 324.21 crore was utilised, while in 2023–24 the allocation stood at Rs 348.12 crore with utilisation of Rs 339.89 crore.
Earlier, Rs 127 crore was allocated in 2022–23, with Rs 122.78 crore utilised, while in 2021–22 the allocation stood at Rs 84.50 crore, of which Rs 77.69 crore was spent.
