H K Dua, veteran journalist, diplomat and former Member of Parliament, died on 4 March after a long illness. Rakesh Sharma, former President of the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) and seasoned journalist, remembered him fondly as ‘Dua Sahib’.
I will miss you Dua Sahib…..
Mr HK Dua, former Editor in Chief of Hindustan Times, Member of Rajya Sabha, Media Advisor to former Prime Ministers Shri AB Vajpayee and HD Devagauda and Ambassador to Denmark is no more. I last met him with Mr Pankaj Vohra on 22nd September’24 in HT’s party to celebrate 100 years of Hindustan Times.
His last words still resonating when we met last were “ Rakesh , come home sometime”.
I am regretting I could not visit him. The lesson: one must be regularly in touch with old friends. None knows the final invitation date and time.
अलविदा दुआ साहिब!! Lacs of your scripted words in national interest will keep you alive in memories of many. I still treasure your front page edits on issues of National and international significance and importance. May your soul rest in peace.
