AI generated video, has rapidly gone viral on social media using seamless face and voice swaps involving global pop star Taylor Swift and Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh to demonstrate the growing sophistication of deepfake technology.

Created by Indian YouTuber and content creator Ishan Sharma, the clip aims to highlight how easily fabricated content can now deceive viewers.

In the video, Sharma begins by addressing the camera directly: “Hi everyone, this is just a reminder that you can no longer trust anything you see on social media.” He then morphs into hyper-realistic versions of several public figures, including Taylor Swift, Ranveer Singh in his Dhurandhar film avatar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Shah Rukh Khan, Vijay Mallya, Donald Trump and many more.

While appearing as Donald Trump, he states, “I can change my face, my age, my gender, and even my voice without you knowing it.” The video concludes with Sharma revealing, “I’m not even recording this video right now. It’s all AI,” followed by the message to stay aware.

The video is prompting widespread shares and discussions. The clip has sparked conversations about the blurring line between what’s real and what’s artificially generated media, especially as AI tools become more accessible to everyday users.

The Rise of AI Influencers and Fabricated Viral Content

The deepfake trend ties into broader concerns about AI-generated content flooding social platforms, particularly in the influencer space. Comedian and content creator Tanmay Bhat recently highlighted this issue in one of his reels, pointing out how advanced AI tools are now being used to create fake versions of “viral” girls’ trending reels. He explained with an example of two creators from now-where who use AI (like Gemini) to generate attractive female avatars that mimic trending dances or trends, often racking up massive views and engagement.

He has echoed sentiments that a significant portion (around half) of viral reels featuring attractive girls are AI-generated and asked creators to set trends where morphing is very difficult. He ended the video by saying, “We have to fight these AI girls.”

Social Media Reactions

Public reactions on social media have been a mix of astonishment and concern. Users described the demo as “wild” and stressed the importance of verifying sources. Comments included warnings such as, “Be careful everyone!!! Inform your parents and elders to stay vigilant!!! Scams are affecting people badly.”

A user commented, “This supposed to be educational and informational but it looks Scary yet hilariously funny.”

“It’s scary how real this looks, you really can’t trust anything online anymore,” a common sentiment shared by users reacting to the video’s realism.

“Deepfakes aren’t just funny edits, they’re dangerous if used to mislead people,” a comment that summarised the broader concern about misinformation.

The video serves as a timely reminder for greater media literacy in the AI era. Call for stronger platform safeguards, watermarking standards, and public awareness to help users distinguish authentic content from increasingly convincing fakes are being made. As Sharma’s demonstration emphasise – “Don’t trust everything to see”.
