Rahul Shaw has moved on from the India Today Group after a stint of over 13 years. June 21 was his last day with the organisation.

e4m has learnt that Shaw is likely to join NDTV in a leadership role very soon. The announcement of him joining NDTV is likely to happen in a day or two.

On 15th May, 2025, Rahul Shaw was made Head of Stage at ITG. He had stepped down from his role as CEO – Television & Radio at TV Today Network Ltd., marking the end of a dynamic chapter in the Group’s broadcast leadership on 14th May, 2025.

A veteran media executive, Shaw has been pivotal in driving growth and innovation across the network’s television and radio businesses. With decades of experience in the broadcasting space, his leadership has left a strong imprint on brands like Aaj Tak, India Today TV, and Ishq FM.

In the last 30 days, Shaw was supposed to  shift his focus entirely to Stage Aaj Tak, the Group’s ambitious foray into experiential content. Under his stewardship, the platform has already rolled out high-impact initiatives, including a nationwide 10-city tour featuring Yo Yo Honey Singh,  blending music, pop culture, and conversation into immersive, live formats.

With a strategic eye on long-term scalability, Shaw was spearheading the integration of digital and on-ground experiences, positioning Stage Aaj Tak at the intersection of entertainment, engagement, and storytelling.

Rahul Shaw in a post a month back on Linkedin had espoused and evangelised the power of TV in a digital world: "In today’s evolving media landscape, digital is known for innovation, but TV remains unmatched for reach and impact. Each platform shapes how brands connect with audiences—and how we, as broadcasters, must adapt our selling strategies.

TV works best with high-impact, repeated exposure—classic ad breaks, ticker bands, and branded elements that are integrated into live visuals. These formats ensure the brand message is impossible to miss, which is exactly what many campaigns need.

Digital, however, demands subtlety. The most effective brand integrations today are almost invisible: a soft voice-over mention, a logo on a cap or diary, or a brief product placement that fits seamlessly into the content. Audiences expect authenticity, and anything that interrupts is quickly skipped.

The opportunity for growth is in blending these approaches. TV can learn from digital’s seamless, organic integrations, while digital can occasionally use bold placements when the message truly matters. The future of revenue growth lies in combining the best of both worlds—innovating without losing sight of what each medium does best for our clients."

Rahul Shaw's experience and standing in the industry is going to be an asset to NDTV group  or any organisation Rahul Shaw joins because of his understanding of clients , agencies , brands ecosystem and also 360 understanding of various mediums including TV , Digital and experiential domain.

When e4m reached out to Rahul Shaw, he was not available for comments .

In an internal communication, the management of India Today Group said: “Rahul has been a valuable contributor to our television business, driving revenue growth across platforms and playing a pivotal role in the Group's success in the broadcast domain, in his earlier role.

Most recently, he was instrumental in the launch of Stage Aaj Tak. We thank Rahul for his contributions and wish him the very best in his future endeavours.”
