Dinesh Shrinet joins Rekhta Foundation as Group Editor – Languages

Journalist and writer Dinesh Shrinet has joined the Rekhta Foundation as Group Editor - Languages, marking a new chapter in a career spanning nearly three decades across print and digital media.

At the Rekhta Foundation, Dinesh will work across languages and editorial initiatives.

The Foundation's multilingual ecosystem includes platforms such as Rekhta, Hindwi, Anjas and Rekhta Gujarati. 

Dinesh said, “Rekhta’s journey in preserving and taking Urdu language, literature and culture to new audiences is an example and, in many ways, a case study for the world. My endeavour will be to take the Foundation’s efforts in other Indian languages and cultures to a similar level, bring younger generations closer to these rich traditions, and make our literary heritage a living and integral part of everyday cultural life.”

Dinesh began his journalism career in 1998 and has worked across several leading media organizations, including Amar Ujala, Dainik Jagran, OneIndia and Times Internet. 

He has been associated with the evolution of Hindi digital journalism since its early years and has worked on several digital publishing and editorial projects.

During his digital media career, Shrinet was involved in the launch and development of several important Indian-language digital initiatives. At Times Internet, he launched The Economic Times Hindi in 2017 and six additional language editions in 2022.

His career has also extended beyond journalism into literature and cultural writing. Shrinet is a short-story writer and he writes on cinema and popular culture. His first published short story, Vigyapan Wali Ladki, appeared in Vagarth in 2006 and was later published in Urdu Aajkal and the Pakistani Urdu publication Aaj.

His fiction has also found an international audience through translation; an English translation of Vigyapan Wali Ladki was published in 2026 in The City: An Anthology of New Indian Writing. His other published books include Pashchim Aur Cinema, Shelf Mein Farishte, Neend Kam Khwab Jyada and Vigyapan Wali Ladki. His work on cinema and journalism has also extended into academic and educational initiatives; he has contributed material for Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University and IGNOU courses on feature writing and the history of world cinema.
