Senior journalist Saurabh Dwivedi is all set to join The Indian Express Group, highly placed sources have confirmed to e4m.
Reliable sources indicate that discussions are underway for Dwivedi to take on a role centred around Hindi YouTube content, along with a possible mandate to help shape the group’s events and public engagement initiatives.
e4m was the first to report about the possibility of Dwivedi joining The Indian Express Group on Wednesday.
Dwivedi recently exited the India Today Group after a 12-year association, bringing to a close one of the most consequential editorial journeys in Hindi digital journalism. During his time with the group, Dwivedi rose from Features Editor at AajTak.in to becoming the face and driving force behind Lallantop, which he co-built with Kamlesh.
Under Dwivedi’s leadership, Lallantop transformed into a formidable digital news platform, particularly among younger audiences in India’s Hindi heartland. With nearly 35 million subscribers on YouTube and over 250 million views in the last month alone, the platform established itself as a serious alternative to traditional television news, combining sharp political interviews, long-form conversations, and a tone that felt accessible without being reductive.
Dwivedi joining The Indian Express Group signals a notable strategic intent. The Express has been steadily expanding its digital footprint, and a high-profile Hindi video and events play could indicate a sharper push into audiences beyond its traditional English-language stronghold. For Dwivedi, such a move would represent a return to building from scratch within a legacy institution, a space where his credibility, editorial instincts, and deep understanding of digital-native audiences could play a defining role.
