Shashi Tharoor to host historical series on Russia Today

Member of Parliament and author Dr Shashi Tharoor is set to collaborate with Russia’s state broadcaster, Russia Today (RT), for an upcoming documentary series titled Imperial Receipts with Dr Shashi Tharoor.

The 10-part series will air simultaneously on RT and its Indian counterpart, RT India.

Drawing upon Dr Tharoor’s extensive scholarship and acclaimed works such as Why I Am a Hindu, An Era of Darkness: The British Empire in India, and India: From Midnight to the Millennium and Beyond, the series will explore the enduring legacies of colonialism and their impact on modern India.

Currently in production, the official release date is yet to be announced by RT. However, audiences were offered an early preview during Dr Tharoor’s recent appearance on The Sanchez Effect, a programme on the RT network.

Dr Tharoor, who also serves as Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs, is presently in Moscow, where he met Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the prestigious Primakov Readings.
