Blinkit has introduced a new quick-commerce delivery service inside Terminal 2 (domestic departures) of Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The service, launched in partnership with Adani Airports, allows passengers to order from over 2,500 products, including phone chargers, books, gifts, snacks, water, and travel essentials, directly through the Blinkit app and have them delivered within the terminal.
Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa announced the launch on LinkedIn and X. He clarified that, “Orders will be delivered within the terminal by our dedicated team of walkers.”

Passengers can place orders after clearing security and receive deliveries at boarding gates, lounges or food courts. Blinkit has described the service as a way to address last-minute needs of travellers without them having to leave the secure area.
The move extends Blinkit’s core proposition into a high-urgency environment like airports, where forgotten items or last-minute purchases are common.
Instead of relying on existing airport retail outlets, the service introduces an on-demand layer, allowing passengers to order what they need without leaving their gate area.
Adani Digital Labs said that it is an added layer of convenience at the airport for a seamless travel experience.

The announcement, however, came on April 1, which led to immediate scepticism online. Given the date, and Blinkit’s history of playful marketing, many users questioned whether the service was an elaborate April Fool’s prank rather than a real rollout.

Dhindsa has clarified that the launch is genuine and not a joke.

Social media reactions
Soon after the news broke, social media was filled with a mix of curiosity, humour, and disbelief. A user said, “If this works, this is truly a game changer for frequent travelers like us.”
Another noted, “This seems like an April Fool’s prank as it will almost kill the revenue model of shops at Airport. A major win for public but too good to be true. I will consider it as April Fool’s Day.”
A third said, “I mean! Now everyone has the permission to just forget 1 or 2 things while packing.”
A lot of users were amused and said, “Insane!! With this rate blinkit might be delivering orders on Mars before our civilization will reach there,” and “can you not deliver to my seat… like mid-air” and “You should also launch this in movie theaters. It is troublesome to order something and get the delivery within the short interval without missing the movie.”
While the reactions varied, the launch signals how quick commerce platforms are exploring new environments beyond homes and offices.
Users are advised to update the Blinkit app to the latest version to access the in-terminal delivery option. The development marks the first time a quick-commerce platform has set up in-terminal delivery inside an Indian airport and is being positioned as a global first of its kind.
