A video showing a delivery partner associated with Swiggy falling while getting off a moving train at Anantapur railway station has drawn widespread attention on social media, raising questions around safety risks faced by gig economy workers during deliveries.
The incident occurred when the delivery partner had boarded a train to hand over a food order to a passenger. As the train began moving shortly after its brief halt at the station, the delivery partner attempted to disembark and lost balance, falling onto the platform. The moment was captured on camera and later shared online, where it quickly circulated across platforms.

According to the caption of the Instagram post shared by Bijay Anand, “The halt was only 1–2 minutes. The passenger was in 1st AC which has multiple doors and by the time the food was handed over, the train had already started. The delivery partner had to get down because he had other orders to deliver and his bike and food bag were outside the station.”
Soon after the video surfaced on social media platforms and became viral, the food delivery company Swiggy came out with an official statement that the delivery partner involved in the incident is safe and sound. Swiggy clarified that the delivery partner has not been injured and is doing well currently. Swiggy has been in touch with the delivery partner to provide help regarding the incident that happened to him.
In its response to the show cause notice, Swiggy reiterated that it has always maintained in its guidelines, which states that its delivery partners are not allowed to board or exit from a moving train. Swiggy went further and explained that it is always prioritizing its partner safety.
Social Media reactions varied, some criticizing Swiggy, some blaming the customer who ordered the food. One user commented, “To Swiggy india ki galati nai he... Passenger who ordered should be at gate 5 min prior arrival.”
Another commented, “Swiggy India, we kindly request you to identify this delivery boy and compensate him for his hard work. It is a request from all of us.”
“This is deeply concerning. No delivery, convenience, or delay is worth risking a human life. Railways, platforms, and delivery services all need clearer rules and accountability so workers aren’t pressured into dangerous situations.” Another added.
