Laqshya Media Group has bagged the advertising rights for the newly operational Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram, which serves Visakhapatnam.

Under the mandate, Laqshya will manage branding and advertising across the airport, covering digital out-of-home (DOOH), traditional out-of-home (OOH), installations and other advertising formats.

The mandate does not carry a fixed tenure, further strengthening Laqshya’s relationship with GMR, with the two companies also operating a joint venture for advertising at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

The greenfield airport, developed by GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport Ltd, commenced commercial operations on August 17, replacing the erstwhile Visakhapatnam Airport at INS Dega. Commercial flight operations at the old airport have now ceased.

The Civil Aviation Ministry had earlier confirmed that the civil enclave at INS Dega would remain closed for 30 years from the commencement of operations at Bhogapuram.

With commercial operations now shifted to the new airport, Bhogapuram is expected to handle around six million passengers annually as air traffic consolidates at the facility.
