Instagram has announced an expansion of its Meta AI-powered translation capabilities, enabling creators to translate Reels into Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Marathi, in addition to Hindi, English, Spanish and Portuguese. While the feature was first announced in November 2025, the ability to translate, dub and lip-sync Reels into more Indian languages is now rolling out to users.

The updates were shared at the exclusive House of Instagram event held in Mumbai, where the platform unveiled two new features that reinforce India’s importance to Meta and further enhance creators’ ability to reach wider audiences.

In the coming months, creators will be able to use Meta AI to translate Reels into five additional Indian languages, helping users discover content from across India and around the world. In October, Instagram introduced the ability for creators to dub and lip-sync their Reels to and from English, Hindi, Spanish and Portuguese, enabling broader global reach. This capability will soon be extended to Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Marathi.

Creators can use Meta AI to transform their Reels so they sound and appear fluent in some of the world’s most widely spoken languages. The tool preserves the creator’s original voice tone, ensuring authenticity, while an optional lip-sync feature aligns translated audio with mouth movements for a more natural viewing experience.

Instagram has also introduced new Indian fonts on Edits, allowing creators to style text and captions using Devanagari and Bengali-Assamese scripts in languages such as Hindi, Marathi, Bengali and Assamese. This update will begin rolling out on Android devices in the coming days.

To access the fonts, creators can navigate to the “Text” option within the editing timeline and select the “Aa” icon to view available fonts. If a device is already set to Devanagari or Bengali-Assamese scripts, these fonts will appear by default. Otherwise, users can filter fonts by language within the “all fonts” tab.

These updates follow a series of creator-focused features launched over the past month. Recent additions include the ability to restyle photos and videos in Instagram Stories using Meta AI, along with new tools in Edits such as bulk caption editing, video reversal, lip-sync effects for photos, and access to over 400 additional sound effects.
