For more than two decades, Nishant Chaturvedi has been a familiar face of Hindi television news—reporting from the ground, anchoring major stories and taking on leadership responsibilities across some of the country’s biggest newsrooms.

As Chaturvedi celebrates his birthday today, September 5, it is an occasion to revisit a career that has evolved alongside the transformation of Indian television news itself.

Chaturvedi began his journalism journey with Zee News in 2000 as an anchor and reporter. He subsequently joined public broadcaster DD News as a bilingual anchor-correspondent before beginning his first stint with Aaj Tak, where he worked as Principal Correspondent and Anchor.

Over the years, his career took him through several prominent news organisations, including Sahara News, Voice of India, India TV and News24. He later took charge as Channel Head at News Express between 2012 and 2014, adding newsroom management and editorial leadership to an already extensive reporting and anchoring portfolio.

In 2014, Chaturvedi returned to Aaj Tak as Executive Editor and Anchor, beginning another significant chapter in his association with the channel. He remained there for more than five years before moving to TV9 Bharatvarsh in November 2019 as Senior Executive Editor.

At TV9 Bharatvarsh, Chaturvedi has also been associated with developing and presenting key programming, including the flagship show Fikr Aapki and Full & Final.

His journalistic journey has placed him at the heart of several major national and international developments. Over the years, he has covered stories ranging from the September 11 attacks and the 2001 Parliament attack to the 2011 tsunami in Japan, apart from numerous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

Chaturvedi’s career also reflects the changing demands placed on a television journalist. From reporting and anchoring to production, newsroom leadership and media strategy, he has worked across different aspects of the broadcast ecosystem.
