Some people build companies. Very few build institutions.
As Madan Bahal sir turns 70, I can’t help but pause & reflect on what it meant to work with him for almost a decade during my Adfactors PR days and how deeply that phase shaped me, both professionally & personally.
Grace in leadership. Strength in values. A visionary who led with calm, not noise & a leader whose humility always outshone his success. From humble beginnings to building India’s largest independent public relations firm, ranked Adfactors PR among the top 15 companies in India for career growth, based on pillars like skill growth, ability to advance & stability, Adfactors’ journey mirrors the vision of the man behind it.
What always stood out to me was not just scale or success, but clarity of purpose. Growth was never accidental it was intentional, values-led & future-facing.
Madan sir was always industry-first whether it was investing in new practices, growth of employees, professionalising PR when it wasn’t fashionable, or taking bold calls long before the industry realised their importance. Yet, in every decision, one thing remained constant: employees were always at the front.
I was fortunate like so many at Adfactors to learn from an organisation that invested deeply in its people. Adfactors made learning non-negotiable, mandating structured programmes that prepared us not just for the role we were in, but for the careers we would go on to build. PG in Digital Marketing & Communication at MICA, Social Media in PR, NUS & Stepping into Leadership at ISB these experiences expanded my thinking, sharpened my perspective & gave me a global outlook early on. Grateful for that privilege and for the learning that continues to guide me even today.
learning from him?
? Think long-term when everyone else is thinking short-term.
? Build credibility before chasing visibility.
? Stay grounded
Despite leading one of Asia’s most formidable communication firms, humility was never compromised. He listened more than he spoke. Observed more than he instructed. And trusted people enough to let them grow.

Madan sir shaped careers without ever seeking credit. A silent mentor, whose lessons stayed for life, he taught me to think beyond the moment and see the larger picture. I didn’t just work under his leadership; I grew because of it. Madan sir’s charisma lay in his ability to make you feel heard, trusted, and capable long before you believed it yourself.
I carry many of those lessons with me even today, 'Abhari' (grateful) for the leadership, the learning, and the values that continue to guide me.
Happy 70th birthday, Madan sir.
Grateful. Always.
