Nemetschek Group, a global provider of software for the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry, has appointed Alok Sharma as Managing Director and Vice President for India.

In his new role, Sharma will lead the company’s expansion strategy in the Indian market. His key priorities include strengthening relationships with large enterprise clients, increasing engagement with government bodies, and driving the shift toward subscription-based and SaaS-driven digital construction solutions. He will also focus on promoting wider adoption of Building Information Modelling (BIM) across infrastructure and real estate projects, while building a stronger local partner network.

Sharma brings more than 30 years of experience in growing and managing software businesses across India and the SAARC region, particularly within the AEC sector. Over the years, he has handled major enterprise deals, worked closely with public sector organisations, and helped companies transition from traditional licensing models to cloud-based subscription systems.

Pete Nicholson, Senior Vice President at Nemetschek Group, said that India is one of the fastest-growing construction markets in the world. He noted that as infrastructure investments increase and digital requirements become more important, strong local leadership is essential for long-term success. He added that Sharma’s deep industry knowledge and understanding of the Indian market will support the company’s growth plans and enhance customer value.

Speaking about his appointment, Alok Sharma said that India’s construction and infrastructure sector is moving into a new phase of digital transformation, in line with the country’s long-term development vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. He highlighted the growing focus on efficiency, transparency and lifecycle management in projects. Sharma added that adopting advanced technologies like BIM and digital workflows will play a key role in shaping the future of infrastructure development in India.
