On its 100th Foundation Day, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat sounded the alarm over the “moral decline of Indian society, particularly among the youth”.
Among other things, Bhagwat pointed how children are increasingly exposed to a wide range of content on their mobile phones, with little oversight. This includes explicit and harmful material that is deeply disturbing.
"There's no control over what children are watching or what is being shown to them on mobile devices" ("Mobile par woh kya dekh rahein hai unko kya dikhaya ja raha hai ispar koi niyantran nahi hai"), said Bhagwat.
According to him, stricter regulations on advertisements and inappropriate content in our homes and society need to be implemented urgently to protect our youth.
Additionally, he emphasized that rampant drug addiction among young people, a serious issue threatening the very fabric of the society, requires the revitalization of values promoting virtue and morality.
Mohan Bhagwat also addressed the importance of reviving traditional values, specifically the concept of respecting women embodied in "Maatrivat Paradaareshu" (treating other women as mothers).
He emphasized that neglecting these values within families and media, which shape both entertainment and education, is having a detrimental impact on society.
Bhagwat stressed the need to restore these virtues through collective efforts from families, society, and media, along with addressing other pressing issues, such as the fallout of the Bangladesh crisis and other socio-cultural challenges.
