The International Cricket Council (ICC) has warned the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that it could face legal action from JioStar, the official broadcasters of the T20 World Cup, following Pakistan’s decision to boycott its February 15 match against India, news agencies have reported.

As per reports, the ICC has flagged the possibility of withholding Pakistan’s annual revenue share—estimated at around $35 million—and using those funds to compensate the broadcasters for potential losses arising from the boycott.

News agency quoted a PCB source as saying that although chairman Mohsin Naqvi sought legal advice before briefing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the issue last week, the board is preparing for significant repercussions.

Another PCB official was quoted as saying that the board’s position may be weakened by the fact that Pakistan is playing all its matches at a neutral venue—Sri Lanka—at its own request, rather than in India.

The ICC has not issued a public statement on the matter.
