Sunita Rajan is set to move on from Bloomberg Media after more than five years as Managing Director, APAC Media Sales and Marketing, sources familiar with the development have told exchange4media.

Based in Singapore, Rajan joined Bloomberg Media in January 2021. In her role, she has been responsible for advertising revenues and client marketing across the company’s global media platforms, including its digital products, Bloomberg Television, Bloomberg Radio, Bloomberg LIVE events and print brands such as Bloomberg Businessweek and Bloomberg Green.

She was also tasked with overseeing Bloomberg Media’s regional sales and marketing organisations, driving cross-platform commercial initiatives and expanding its strategic marketing services offerings across Asia Pacific. Her mandate involved identifying new growth opportunities and helping brands connect with Bloomberg Media’s audience of business leaders and decision-makers.

Details of Rajan’s next professional move are not known. There is also no official word yet on her last working day or a possible successor.

exchange4media reached out to Bloomberg for confirmation but had not received a response at the time of publishing this report.

Rajan is one of Asia Pacific’s most experienced media sales and commercial leaders, with a career spanning more than three decades across Bloomberg Media, CNN International Commercial, BBC Worldwide, Channel V and Star TV.

Before joining Bloomberg Media, she spent nearly six years with CNN International Commercial. She joined CNN in March 2015 as Vice President, Advertising Sales, before being elevated to Senior Vice President, Advertising Sales, in July 2016.

At CNN, Rajan headed advertising sales and marketing partnerships for the Asia-Pacific region. She oversaw strategic client relationships and brand partnerships while leading teams located across Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, New Delhi and Mumbai. She was also part of the executive management team responsible for guiding CNN’s international commercial strategy and developing cross-platform propositions for advertisers seeking to reach the network’s global audience.

Prior to CNN, Rajan had a more than 16-year association with BBC Worldwide Asia. Her last role at the organisation was Executive Vice President, Advertising Sales, Asia and Australia-New Zealand. In that capacity, she was responsible for delivering advertising revenues across BBC World News, BBC.com, Lonely Planet and other BBC commercial properties.

During her BBC tenure, she also served as Senior Vice President, BBC Advertising Asia, and Deputy Airtime Sales Director for Asia. She played a key role in developing the broadcaster’s in-house advertising sales operations and expanding its commercial footprint across the region.

Earlier in her career, Rajan worked with Newscorp International’s Channel V as Marketing Director and Regional Sales Manager. As part of the channel’s launch and growth team in India, she worked across advertising, consumer marketing, trade marketing, distribution and on-ground promotions.

She had previously held sales roles at Star TV in Hong Kong and India, joining the company during the early phase of satellite television’s expansion across Asia. Rajan began her career in advertising sales with Media Concessionaire Limited, where she represented international publications including TIME and Fortune in the Indian market.
