Senior journalist Sant Prasad Rai joins AajTak as Consulting Editor

Senior TV journalist Sant Prasad Rai has joined the India Today Group, taking on the role of Consulting Editor at its Hindi news channel, AajTak. In his new position, Rai will play a key role in shaping the channel’s output and editorial strategy.
Samachar4Media has earlier reported that Rai was likely to join the India Today Group. Rai brings over 25 years of experience in the media industry, having held senior editorial and leadership roles at several leading Hindi news channels.
Before joining AajTak, Rai served as Senior Vice President (News and Production) at ABP News, a position he resigned from in September 2024. His earlier stints include TV9 Network, where he was Managing Editor at TV9 Bharatvarsh, and India TV, where he had two tenures, most recently starting in May 2018 as Senior Executive Editor. Between his tenures at India TV, he also worked at Zee Media as Editor (Output) from July 2017 to April 2018.
Rai began his journalism career with All India Radio and later worked at Ramoji Film City and ETV UP as a producer and news anchor. He also had a brief stint with Sahara Samay before joining Zee News in 2004, where he worked for nearly nine years, including as Deputy Executive Producer overseeing prime-time bulletins and programming. Rai has also served as Output Head at News24.
