Citi has announced the appointment of Behzad Merchant as Business Execution Lead for India with additional oversight for Bangladesh & Sri Lanka. He shared the news of his new role through a LinkedIn post. In this role, Behzad will be responsible for driving strategic, business-critical and regulatory initiatives and programs across India.

As per media reports, Behzad will report directly to Varittha Prichapanich, Business Execution Lead, Asia South with a matrix reporting line to K Balasubramanian, CEO, Citi India, and Banking Head, Indian Subcontinent.
Behzad Merchant is a seasoned professional with nearly 24 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry. He is experienced in leading and transforming complex initiatives for businesses across Asia Pacific and globally, delivering innovative solutions and driving operational excellence.
Prior to his elevation, he was the Business Risk & Controls Head for APAC Payments and India Risk & Controls Site Lead for Global Payments at JPMorgan Chase & Co.
