Days after the Uttar Pradesh government banned photography and videography at all railway stations in the state, citing security concerns linked to the Jyoti Malhotra "spy" case, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched a new campaign to curb a growing trend: commuters filming social media content onboard metro trains.
Aimed at discouraging filming of content on trains like dance videos, skits, and musical performances, the campaign uses a blend of humour and clear messaging to address what officials see as an increasing safety and nuisance issue. Posters with cheeky slogans such as “Dance like nobody’s watching – just not on the metro” and “Your performance deserves a bigger stage than the metro” have started appearing across stations.
Alongside these visuals, DMRC has reinforced its stance on its official social media handles with the tagline: “Metro is for travel, not for trends.” The public message urges commuters to avoid filming inside trains and stations, emphasising that such behaviour can inconvenience others and potentially compromise safety.

This is not DMRC’s first effort to address the issue. The metro authority has previously raised concerns about the use of public transit for personal content creation, especially in light of the rise of short-form video platforms. With the new campaign, DMRC is hoping to strike a balance between digital expression and public responsibility.
The move aligns with broader efforts by authorities to tighten regulations around public behaviour in transit spaces. Following the recent UP government directive, security has been ramped up at railway stations across the state, underscoring a wider crackdown on unauthorised filming in high-footfall areas.
