Mumbai Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) has summoned social media influencer Orhan “Orry” Awatramani for questioning in connection with a ₹252-crore mephedrone (MD) drug seizure case.
Orry was scheduled to appear before the ANC's Ghatkopar unit at 10:00 AM today (Thursday, November 20, 2025), though the latest reports indicate he has not yet presented himself for questioning, and has requested a date after November 25 as the social media influencer is not present in the city and could not be present today for interrogation.
What is the ₹252-crore drug case?
The summons is linked to a major drug bust conducted earlier this year. In March 2024, police recovered 126.14 kg of the synthetic stimulant mephedrone, commonly known as MD, from a farm in Sangli, Maharashtra.
The seized contraband is valued at an estimated ₹252 crore, making it one of the largest mephedrone hauls in recent years.
Investigators say the manufacturing unit was allegedly run by wanted trafficker Salim Dola, with his son Taher operating local networks.
How did Orry’s name come up?
Orry’s name surfaced after the arrest and deportation of Mohammad Suhail Shaikh, an alleged trafficker based in Dubai, who was brought back to India on 5 November 2025.
During questioning, Shaikh reportedly told investigators that he organised lavish parties in Dubai and Mumbai, allegedly attended by a mix of celebrities, social media personalities and other influential figures.
He claimed Orry was among the attendees at these gatherings.
Police have clarified that these statements are still being verified and appear at this stage as allegations made during custodial interrogation. The ANC has stated that summoning Orry is part of a routine process to verify such references.
As of now, no charges have been filed against him, and the summons does not imply wrongdoing.
