Elon Musk has confirmed that X Money, the payments feature being built into the social media platform X, will enter early public access in April 2026.
Through a post on X on March 10, 2026, Musk wrote: “X Money early public access will launch next month.” The announcement marks the latest concrete step in his long-stated goal of transforming X into an “everything app” i.e. a single platform combining social networking, messaging, payments, and more.

X Money is reportedly designed as an in-app digital wallet that will let users send and receive money, make peer-to-peer transfers, hold deposits, and use a debit card all without leaving the X app therefore merging social interaction with financial utility.
X had earlier announced a partnership with Visa to support the payments infrastructure for X Money. The collaboration is expected to enable features such as funding a digital wallet and transferring funds through Visa Direct as the payments system is rolled out.
The launch of X Money reflects Musk’s broader effort to expand X beyond its origins as a microblogging platform and build a more integrated digital ecosystem. Since acquiring Twitter in 2022 and rebranding it as X, Musk has repeatedly spoken about transforming the platform into a multifunctional hub that combines communication, payments and other digital services within a single app.
By embedding payments into the social platform, the feature could enable financial interactions to take place alongside conversations, creator engagement and content sharing.
Musk has long described payments as a core piece of the “everything app” vision, arguing it will make the platform more useful and open new revenue streams beyond advertising.
If successfully implemented, X Money could play a central role in Musk’s long-term vision of transforming X into a single destination for social interaction, digital services and financial transactions.
