Following the ban on real-money gaming, Dream11 is reportedly looking to get into stock broking business. According to some media reports, the company has sought a stock broking license from Sebi.

According to the reports, the shift is designed to leverage its extensive user base and offset revenue declines by pivoting toward stock market investments and wealth management.

Dream11 Group, then the leading most fantasy gaming brand, has made the pivot after the recent ban on online money games crippled its core business.

One of the reports quoted two people as saying that the company aims to leverage its existing user base from before the real-money gaming ban came into effect nearly two months ago, adding that online equity broking is a natural extension of its business.

Following the government’s blanket ban on real-money gaming under the newly enacted Promotion & Regulation of Online Gaming Law, 2025, Dream11 in August 2025 announced that it has stopped all paid contests and pivoted entirely to a free-to-play social sports game.

In a note put up on LinkedIn the fantasy gaming company shared, “When we started this journey 18 years ago as a Sports Tech company, we were not even 1% of the size of the USA Fantasy Sports industry. Dream11’s Fantasy Sports product was our way to “Make Sports Better” for all of India. With this passion, belief, and the spirit of Made in India, for India, by Indians, we became the largest fantasy sports platform in the world.”

“We have always been and will always be a law-abiding company, and have conducted our business in compliance with the laws. While we believe that progressive regulations would have been the right way forward, we will respect the law and will fully comply with “The Promotion & Regulation of Online Gaming Law, 2025”.
