Reliance Industries has joined forces with Meta to establish a new joint venture worth Rs 855 crore, focused on developing and scaling enterprise artificial intelligence solutions across India and select global markets. The newly incorporated entity, Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited (REIL), operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Intelligence Limited, jointly backed by Reliance Industries and Meta Platforms.
As per the stock exchange filing dated October 25, 2025, Reliance Intelligence will invest Rs 2 crore and hold a 70% stake in REIL, while Meta’s Facebook Overseas will own the remaining 30%. The company’s operations will centre on developing, marketing, and distributing enterprise-grade AI products, with no regulatory approvals required for its establishment.
The venture stems from Reliance’s broader vision of combining its multi-sector expertise with Meta’s AI capabilities to deliver open-source and sovereign AI solutions tailored for Indian enterprises. This collaboration aligns with India’s growing emphasis on ‘Made-in-India’ technologies, especially amid ongoing India-US trade frictions and the government’s encouragement of homegrown digital platforms.
India’s position as the world’s second-largest internet market provides a fertile ground for such an initiative, with both Reliance and Meta aiming to democratize access to advanced AI tools. The venture also complements Reliance’s parallel partnership with Google to build AI-focused cloud infrastructure, beginning with a data centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat, further strengthening India’s ambition to become a global AI innovation hub.
