This past week, the two highly anticipated events of the year- the upcoming 2019 Indian General Election and the Indian Premier League continued to dominate headlines. Social media intermediary members of the Internet and Mobile Association of India have adopted a voluntary 'Code of Ethics' to monitor political advertisements on their platforms during the election.
This week, Hotstar also launched its new service, Hotstar VIP with an aim to disrupt online video subscriptions.
We also learnt this week that Disney has closed its 21st Century Fox deal at $71.3 billion, giving Disney control of the 21st Century Fox movie and TV studios, cable networks such as FX and National Geographic, and Star Network.
Amid Netflix dismantling its global marketing team, Stephen Bruno, Netflix Global Marketing Chief has stepped down this week. Reports suggest he will be joining MGM as its Chief Marketing Officer.
