Gagan Mangal has announced his departure from Volkswagen India, bringing to an end a professional association of more than 14 years with the automotive brand. He joined Volkswagen in 2011 and held multiple leadership roles during his tenure, most recently serving as Lead, Marketing Communications & Press.

Mangal’s time at Volkswagen spanned key milestones, from the Vento and Polo years to the India 2.0 shift, the launch of models like the Beetle, Golf GTI and Tiguan, and the global recognition of the India-made Taigun.

Mangal wrote on LinkedIn: “After more than 14 years with Volkswagen, I closed a chapter this week that has shaped who I am — professionally and personally. I joined in 2011 and stayed through some of the most defining years of the brand in India: from the Vento and Polo era to India 2.0, from Beetle to Tiguan, from introducing icons like the Golf GTI to seeing an India-made Taigun on the global stage at the World Car of the Year. What I’m most proud of isn’t just the launches or the awards — it’s the belief we built around the brand. The idea that a Volkswagen isn’t just a car, but a promise of engineering, character and integrity.”

Mangal further added: “One moment that will always stay with me is seeing the Taigun — designed and built in India — stand on the global WCOTY stage in U.S. in 2021. We didn’t win, but we proved something far more important: that ambition, when backed by teamwork, can travel anywhere.”

Mangal has over 17 years of experience in the automotive industry. Prior to joining Volkswagen India, he was associated with Hyundai Motor India Limited, where he served as Assistant Manager for nearly four years.
