The offices of the news agency United News of India (UNI) in Delhi were sealed on March 20, 2026. The action was carried out by a team of Delhi Police and administration. Police stated that this action was taken following an order from the Delhi High Court.
The allotment of the land on which the UNI office was located had already been cancelled. UNI appealed this decision to the court, but the High Court dismissed its petition and upheld the cancellation of the land. Following this, the office was ordered to be vacated.
Based on this order, the police evacuated and sealed the office on Rafi Marg. A large number of police officers were present at the scene. Officials said the operation was carried out according to legal procedures and videotaped.
However, the action caused considerable commotion in the office. Employees alleged they were forcibly evicted, and some were not even given time to collect their belongings. On the other hand, the police dismissed all these allegations, stating that the entire action was carried out in accordance with regulations.
