The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) has extended the deadline for public inputs on its draft guidelines aimed at curbing copyright infringement and strengthening India’s anti-piracy framework. The extension follows an earlier public notice issued on November 7, 2025.

MIB issued a fresh public notice on November 26, which opened a nationwide consultation on anti-piracy strategies. According to the updated notice, the deadline for receiving comments on the draft guidelines has been extended by a further two weeks. Submissions may be sent to the Ministry via email.

The notice issued states: “Reference is invited to the Ministry's Public Notice dated 07.11.2025, soliciting comments from General Public within 20 days of issuance of communication in addressing copyright infringement and strengthen anti-piracy strategies. The date of receiving comments on the draft guidelines is hereby extended by 2 weeks.”

Tackling piracy remains a key concern, with the illegal circulation of films, music, OTT content and other digital media continuing to damage revenues and weaken the country’s creative economy.
