Online travel company EaseMyTrip’s co-founder and promoter Nishant Pitti has pledged shares worth around Rs 212 crore in the company for personal use. According to the regulatory filing, Pitti pledged 34.51 crore shares in favour of Motilal Oswal Financial Services on August 24.
The 34.51 crore pledged shares represent 8.66% of EaseMyTrip’s total paid-up share capital. The transaction is stated to be for the promoter’s personal use, meaning the funds raised will not be used for the listed company’s business.
The value of the pledged shares and the amount involved in the transaction have both been stated as Rs 211.92 crore. The security cover for the transaction is 1:1.
Following the latest pledge, 44.87 crore shares held by Nishant Pitti are now pledged, representing 11.26% of EaseMyTrip’s total share capital. Pitti holds a total 11.39% stake in the company.
This means almost his entire stake in EaseMyTrip is now pledged.
The regulatory disclosure states that the purpose of the share pledge is the promoter’s personal use. The funds will not be used for the benefit of EaseMyTrip or for the company’s requirements.
