Lopah Mudra Bhattacharrya, Vice President Corporate Communications, HDFC Life, has put up a social media post as a tribute to senior journalist Derek Bose. She fondly remembered Bose and reflected on her early years at Indian Express Business Publications, where he served as Editor.
Bhattacharrya recalled Bose as the first editor who profoundly influenced her career.
According to Bhattacharjee, he instilled the values of rigour, encouraged curiosity, and always believed in nurturing young talent. Over time, their professional relationship grew into a lifelong friendship, with Bose becoming not just a mentor but also a trusted confidant and, in her words, a true "friend, philosopher and guide."
Derek Bose, known for documenting the evolution of Indian cinema and the global rise of Bollywood through his writing, passed away on July 23. He was 69.
