- HDFC Bank has appointed Anup Bagchi as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Sashidhar Jagdishan.
- Bagchi brings over 30 years of experience in financial services, including banking, capital markets, wealth management, and insurance.
- He previously served as MD & CEO of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance and Executive Director of ICICI Bank, where he focused on growth and strategic leadership.
- Bagchi holds a Management degree from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, and an Engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
HDFC Bank has appointed Anup Bagchi as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
Bagchi succeeds Sashidhar Jagdishan, who vacated office on Monday after the completion of his term, the bank informed exchanges.
Bagchi is a seasoned financial services leader with over three decades of experience across Banking, Capital Markets, Wealth Management and Insurance. His career reflects a strong track record in business building, strategic leadership, and navigating the evolving financial services landscape.
Prior to joining HDFC, he served as the MD & CEO of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance. Under his leadership, the business delivered strong growth in protection products and new business generation, reflecting his focus on sustainable and profitable expansion.
Bagchi also served as Executive Director of ICICI Bank from 2017 to 2023, overseeing Retail, Business and Rural Banking, and Wholesale Banking.
In addition to his executive responsibilities, he was the Chairman of ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company until May 2023 and was a Director at ICICI Prudential Pension Funds Management Company and ICICI Home Finance.
Bagchi holds a Management degree from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and an Engineering degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
