Actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan have filed a lawsuit against YouTube and Google, accusing them of hosting AI-generated deepfake videos that misuse their likeness. The couple has sought ₹4 crore in damages and a permanent injunction to stop further circulation of such content.
As per filings submitted on September 6, the couple attached numerous screenshots and video links of what they describe as “fictitious” or “sexually explicit” AI-generated videos circulating on the platform. The suit also questions YouTube’s AI training policies, claiming they allow user-uploaded videos to be used for training rival AI systems, which can worsen the spread of false or defamatory visuals.
The Delhi High Court has directed Google’s counsel to file a written reply before the next hearing on January 15, 2026.
This legal step follows a similar move by Amitabh Bachchan, who previously obtained a court order protecting his name, voice, image, and personality rights from unauthorized use in ads, deepfake videos, and AI content.
The case adds to a growing debate on AI ethics, celebrity rights, and the accountability of tech platforms as deepfake technology becomes harder to detect and regulate.
