Short video format app TikTok has maintained its top spot on the overall downloaded list in May 2020. With more than 111.9 million installs, the app has recorded a two-fold growth year-on-year since May 2019.
TikTok has zoomed past video conferencing app Zoom, which slipped to a second position, and popular messaging platform WhatsApp on the list. Others include Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and Google Meet.
For TikTok, India is a popular market, contributing 20% of the total downloads. US comes second with 9.3%. In the month of May alone, the ByteDance-owned app recorded 22.38 million downloads from India.
Indian government’s COVID-tracker app Arogya Setu was eighth on the list. This makes it the only Indian app to feature on it.
