Prime Minister Modi to quit social media?
The Prime Minister who has 53.3 million followers on Twitter, has always leveraged social media platforms to build his brand
One of the most popular handles on social media is probably all set to get deactivated this Sunday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi leaves netizens shocked with his latest post. The Prime Minister took to Twitter and posted:
This Sunday, thinking of giving up my social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & YouTube. Will keep you all posted.— Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) March 2, 2020
Interestingly Modi who joined Twitter in January 2009 was one of the few politicians on social media back then. Not just that, at 53.3 million followers on Twitter, he is also the third leader in the world with a follower base of over 50 million on the platform. The only two preceding him is former American President Barack Obama and the incumbent Donald Trump.
Not just on Twitter, Modi has a huge follower count on Facebook, Instagram, Youtube and Linkedin too. With a 44 million follower base on Facebook, 35.2 million followers on Instagram and 4.51 million subscribers on his channel on Youtube, Prime Minister Modi has always used his social media accounts to build on his brand.
While netizens are speculating that the Prime Minister's account could be hacked, some also took to their walls to express their disbelief of the same. Within an hour of the post being up it had got over 50,000 likes, over 17,000 shares and over 33,000 comments making Modi the most trended handle late in the night on Monday. For more updates, be socially connected with us on
