Perplexity has introduced Email Assistant, an AI-driven productivity tool aimed at reshaping how users manage their inboxes. Available exclusively to Perplexity Max subscribers at $200 a month, the feature integrates with Gmail and Outlook, offering a personal AI partner that drafts responses, organizes conversations, schedules meetings, and highlights priorities.

Positioned as an extension of Perplexity’s Comet AI suite, the assistant adapts to individual communication styles, enabling it to suggest tone-appropriate replies, surface key tasks, and intelligently label emails. “Your inbox is more than a message center, it’s your professional memory, your relationships, and your productivity hub,” the company noted, positioning the assistant as a time-saving partner for professionals.

Important features include calendar connection, auto-drafted responses, inbox organization via smart tagging, and priority management such as summarizing emails prior to important meetings.  With SOC 2 and GDPR compliance guaranteeing that user data is not used for model training, the company highlighted privacy as a key benefit.

Perplexity claims early adopters of its Comet tools saw productivity gains of up to 18x, and expects Email Assistant to drive similar efficiencies. To activate the service, users must connect their accounts through the Email Assistant hub and can then assign tasks directly by emailing [email protected].

By transforming email, which has traditionally been viewed as a time-consuming task, into a simplified productivity channel, the launch highlights the growing desire to integrate AI into daily operations. Perplexity is placing a wager on professionals and businesses who are prepared to spend more for more adept inbox management, even though its price tag may restrict access.
