Meta has launched a new wave of support and security updates across Facebook and Instagram, positioning a centralised hub and expanded use of artificial intelligence at the core of its efforts to improve user protection. The hub, now rolling out globally on iOS and Android, brings all troubleshooting options together, allowing people to report issues, recover accounts and search for answers through Meta’s AI powered assistance.

The company is also testing an AI support assistant designed to offer instant, personalised guidance for tasks such as account recovery, profile management and settings updates. It is being introduced first on Facebook before expanding to other Meta apps. The move reflects a push to make help available round the clock and reduce the complexity users often face when navigating support channels.

Meta said its AI driven security systems have lowered new account hacks by more than 30 percent over the past year across Facebook and Instagram. These systems monitor behaviour in real time to detect suspicious logins, identify phishing attempts and flag compromised accounts earlier. The company also noted that improvements in enforcement tools have reduced accidental account disabling and made the appeals process quicker and simpler.

Account recovery has been overhauled with clearer steps, more visible recovery options and better alerts for risky activity. The process now adapts to each situation and recognises trusted devices and familiar locations more accurately. Users can also choose to submit a selfie video for identity verification. Meta said these changes increased the relative success rate of hacked account recovery by more than 30 percent in the United States and Canada this year.

Additional security features include the redesigned Security Checkup tool, two factor authentication and support for passkeys that enable sign in through fingerprint, face or device PIN. More updates to recovery and support tools are expected in 2026.
