OpenAI has appointed Kiran Mani as Managing Director for Asia-Pacific and Japan. Mani shared on LinkedIn, stating, “This week, I started at OpenAI to lead Asia Pacific and Japan.”

Mani described OpenAI's mission as the most purposeful he has undertaken. He notes, “First, this is the most purposeful mission I have ever signed up for. AI has the potential to transform how people live, learn, create and solve problems. Second, a mission this ambitious needs brilliant people who also bring real humanity. Even with everything moving at extraordinary speed, the kindness of the people I met really stood out.”

Mani joins OpenAI after serving as Chief Executive Officer-Digital of JioStar. He brings more than two decades of experience in technology and digital businesses across the region.

Prior to JioStar, he spent 13 years at Google in a range of leadership roles. Earlier in his career, he worked with Microsoft and IBM.
