The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) has approached International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Jay Shah, raising concerns over the airing of adult-oriented advertisements during live cricket broadcasts. The trade body has urged the ICC to prohibit advertisements for condoms, dating platforms, and other adult-focused products during matches watched by family audiences.

According to media reports, in a letter addressed to Shah, CTI Chairman Brijesh Goyal referred to the second T20 International between India and England at Old Trafford, Manchester, on July 4, 2026.

Goyal said cricket in India extends beyond being just a sport and holds a deep emotional connection with audiences.

The organisation has requested Jay Shah to take up the matter at the next ICC Board meeting and establish clear guidelines within 30 days to ensure that children’s interests and mental well-being are considered during sports broadcasts. CTI has also indicated that it may escalate the matter with Parliament and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting if required.
