Harish Khare, editor-in-chief of The Tribune, a Chandigarh-based newspaper, resigned from his post barely two months after it published a shocking report on security flaw in the Aadhaar database.

The joint statement said that, “It is unfair, unjustified and a direct attack on the freedom of the press. Instead of penalising the reporter, UIDAI should have ordered a thorough internal investigation into the alleged breach and made its findings public."

 IRS 2011 Q2: AIR of Punjabi & Hindi dailies decline in Punjab?blur=25

Barring Ajit, there has been no growth in the AIR for other Punjabi dailies in Punjab as per the IRS 2011 Q2 results. Hindi and English dailies, too, have witnessed decline in AIR. Dainik Bhaskar is the only Hindi daily that has grown over the last year.

Barring Punjab Kesari, all Hindi dailies in Chandigarh have witnessed decline in their AIR numbers as per the IRS 2011 Q1 data. The story is not a happy one for Punjabi dailies as well...
