Tata Sons Group chairman N Chandrasekaran is said to have spoken with chief executives of some international carriers to take over from Campbell Wilson, the current CEO of Air India, Economics Times has reported citing sources. 

The discussions have been going on even as Wilson’s term runs until June 2027, the report said. Similar leadership changes are also being considered at Air India Express, where the tenure of CEO Aloke Singh is also set to end in 2027, it has been reported.

Wilson joined Air India in July 2022 and had announced a five-year transformation plan aimed at turning the airline into a globally competitive carrier while improving its financial performance.

On November 7, 2025, Wilson took part in his first public engagement since the Air India crash in June and spoke about a 'new Air India' that was taking shape. He also highlighted that the airline was planning to add 524 new aircraft to its fleet by 2031.
