Kantar Media has named Mark Read, the former CEO of WPP, as Chairman of its newly established Board of Directors.

Read brings decades of experience from the advertising and media industry. He most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of WPP from 2018 to 2025. Earlier in his career, he led WPP’s strategy function, played a key role in the group’s early push into digital through WPP Digital, and was CEO of Wunderman, the global digital agency. He is a strong advocate of using technology to drive business transformation and was a key supporter of WPP’s investments in artificial intelligence, including initiatives such as WPP Open and the acquisition of UK-based AI firm Satalia.

Commenting on his appointment, Mark Read said that Kantar Media plays a vital role in helping advertisers, agencies, media owners and platforms understand changing media consumption and make smarter investment decisions. He added that he is pleased to join the board as Chairman and support Patrick and the leadership team in bringing greater clarity to the media landscape at a time when audience behaviour is evolving faster than ever.
