Dr. Subhash Chandra, Chairman of Essel Group, honored his late father, Nand Kishore Goenka, through a heartfelt social media post following a turban-tying ceremony on July 26, 2026.
He emphasized that while physical life ends, the values and teachings of a person continue to influence future generations.
Nand Kishore Goenka, a prominent industrialist and philanthropist, passed away on July 13, 2026, at the age of 96, with his last rites held in Agroha Dham, Haryana.
In memory of his father, Dr. Chandra announced the establishment of the Nand Kishore Goenka University in Agroha, Haryana, aimed at providing quality higher education and promoting social service and human values, with an investment of approximately ₹100 crore.

Essel Group Chairman and former Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Subhash Chandra paid tribute to his father, the late Nand Kishore Goenka, a veteran industrialist and philanthropist, by sharing an emotional social media post following the turban-tying ceremony. He said that while a person's physical journey may end, their life values remain alive and guide future generations.

Dr. Subhash Chandra wrote in his Facebook post that the turban-tying ceremony, performed on July 26, 2026, was not merely a social tradition, but a moment of acknowledgment of the responsibility a father passes on to his family after his death. He said that “babuji's life is no longer limited to memories, but his values will continue to be passed on through the family's conduct, decisions, and future generations”.

He further wrote, "It is an eternal truth of life that one day a person departs from this visible world, but his values, his discipline, and the path he shows transcend time." Dr. Chandra said that his father's life and his ideals will always remain an inspiration for the family.

In his message, he also expressed gratitude to everyone who stood by the family during this difficult time. He wrote that he is deeply grateful to those who have supported the family through their presence, prayers, and affection.

At the end of the post, Dr. Subhash Chandra paid a heartfelt tribute to his father, writing, "Babuji, your physical journey is over, but the journey of the values you have given will continue. Om Shanti."

Nand Kishore Goenka passed away on July 13, 2026, in Mumbai at the age of 96. His last rites were performed at the Goenka Garden in Agroha Dham, Haryana. Recently, to perpetuate his father's memory, Dr. Subhash Chandra announced the establishment of the Nand Kishore Goenka University in Agroha, Haryana, at a cost of approximately ₹100 crore. The proposed university's objective will be to provide quality higher education, as well as to promote social service and human values.
