Narendra Kumar Verma, Director of Diamond Pocket Books and one of India's most respected publishers, passed away on 10 July 2026 at the age of 77.
According to a statement issued by the family, Verma's funeral procession departed from his residence in Sector 15A, Noida, on 11 July at 12 noon. His last rites were performed at Lodhi Crematorium in New Delhi at 1 pm.
Verma was widely recognised for his pivotal role in shaping India's publishing landscape through Diamond Pocket Books. Over several decades, he helped bring countless titles to readers and was known for encouraging both established and emerging authors.
Among those expressing condolences was former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and noted author Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', who described Verma as more than a distinguished publisher.

A prayer meeting will be held today (13 July) at 5 pm at the Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. Family members have invited friends, well-wishers and members of the literary fraternity to attend and pay their respects.
