Disney will be retaining nearly 200 employees, separate from the merged entity of Reliance Industries Ltd and Walt Disney’s Star India.
These staffers will continue as Disney employees.
Some of these retained staff, including Bikram Duggal, former head of studios at Disney Star, will work for Disney directly. While Duggal will focus on the India market, others in this group may cater to both India and other regions, sources have confirmed to e4m.
Bikram Duggal has chosen to opt out of the merged entity but will still be staying on with Disney.
As reported earlier, both media houses have agreed not to bundle television and OTT advertising slot sales for their cricketing rights—including IPL, ICC, and BCCI—for the remaining tenure of their existing rights.
While the industry is abuzz with speculation about how the leadership structure will evolve, the merged entity is all set to announce its restructured leadership. While some executives are expected to step into enhanced roles, others may exit the system entirely.
