Disney’s sports revenue from Star India down by 37% in Q4, 2024

The Walt Disney Company has reported a revenue jump of 6% for Q4 ending September 30, 2024 compared to last year.
Disney’s sports revenue from Star India decreased by 37% in Q4, 2024. It was at $58 million this quarter, down from $92 million in the same quarter previous fiscal.
For the full year, the company has recorded a growth of 3% in the total revenue which stood at $ 91.3 billion in 2024, up from $88.8 billion in 2023.
Sharing his comment, the company’s CEO Bob Iger said, “This has been a pivotal and successful year for The Walt Disney Company, and thanks to the significant progress we've made, we have emerged from a period of considerable challenges and disruption well-positioned for growth and optimistic about our future.
Q4 was one of the best quarters in the history of the company’s film studio, improved profitability in streaming businesses, a record-breaking 60 Emmy Awards for the company, the continued strength of live sports, and the unveiling of an impressive collection of new projects coming to our Experiences segment.
“As a result of our strategies and our focus on managing our businesses for both the near and long term, we are differentiating ourselves from traditional competitors, leveraging the deepest and broadest set of entertainment assets in the industry to drive attractive returns and further advance our goals,” he said.
Walt Disney's revenue reached $22.6 billion in Q4 2024, up from $21.2 billion in the same period last year. However, the company experienced a 6% decline in income before income taxes, which fell to $0.9 billion in Q4 from $1.0 billion in the prior-year quarter.
However, its earnings per share (EPS) saw a 79% increase, climbing to $0.25 in Q4 2024, compared to $0.14 in Q4 2023. On a full-year basis, Disney reported a 3% increase in revenues, totalling $91.4 billion for the fiscal year 2024, up from $88.9 billion in 2023.
In Q4, 2024, the company’s revenue from entertainment grew by 14% at $10.8 billion, up from $ 9.5 billion in Q4 2023.
However, the sports revenue remained flat at $ 3.9 billion during the fourth quarter of both years.
Its revenue from experiences grew by 1%, from $8.1 billion in Q4 2023 to $8.2 billion in Q4 this year.
