Aishwarya Paliwal, journalist with India Today who covers critical beats like the Finance Ministry and the Election Commission, recently faced a harrowing experience of harassment in Central Delhi. The incident, which occurred while she was in her car, has once again raised concerns about women's safety in the national capital.

Sharing her ordeal on the social media platform X, Paliwal recounted how an unidentified man on a scooter attempted to block her way and insisted she roll down her window. She described the encounter as “creepy and scary,” emphasizing the need for vigilance among women in the city.

“Girls in Delhi, be very careful while on the road even when you are in your own car,” she warned in her post. Detailing the incident, she wrote, “He brought his scooter right next to my car in an attempt to block my way. I sped away, and in the rear-view mirror, I could see him following me till some distance.”

Her advice to others? “DON'T EVER DO THAT,” referring to the man’s insistence on asking her to roll down her window.

The journalist explained that it took her some time to process the traumatic incident and write about it. “I am writing now as I was rattled, and finally I am in a state to write about it,” she shared.

This disturbing event is a stark reminder of the challenges women face while navigating Delhi’s roads, even in the relative safety of their own vehicles. The incident also calls for heightened awareness and stricter measures to ensure public safety in urban areas.
